The 2Plus
LE-Adapter is a larger version of our original and very successful
LE-Adapter. This adapter was developed as a result of a high volume of
requests from individuals with optical devices with rather large
eyepieces who had no method to couple them to their cameras. Now those
enthusiasts with Kowa, Leica, Swarovski spotting scopes or those with
large eyepieces on their telescopes can enjoy this new lens to eyepiece
camera accessory.
Andy Bright from the U.K.
recently took the 2Plus LE-Adapter out in the field for evaluation. He is using
a Nikon 990 Digital Camera coupled to a Swarovski Spotting Scope.
Subject: 2Plus LE-Adapter Field Test Report
“I used the (2Plus) LE-Adapter during a birding
trip on Saturday morning. I was struck by how easy and quickly it was to attach
to the scope…despite the 3 screws to tighten… the large size of the screw heads
meant they they were easy to grip. Though the camera and adapter are quite
bulky, it fits into a small camera bag with ease…so it’s no big problem to get
the camera/adapter out and onto the scope’s eyepiece when a photo opportunity
arises. I was happy with the secure attachment of camera/adapter to the scope
and was confident to walk around with the complete set-up on my tripod without
fear of any accidents (always make sure that the scope is not pointing at the
sun…otherwise a fried ccd!). A Reed Bunting, Emberiza schoeniclus (6inches –
15cm) taken at about 30 yards from the bird. You have permission to use the pic
on the web in relation to the LE-Adapter.”

The 2Plus LE-Adapter accepts a range
of eyepieces diameters between 35mm (1 3/8”) to 60mm (2 5/16”).
We highly recommend the largest eyepiece as
possible. As Kenneth Farmer, PhD, recently mentioned in a
Product Review “The new 2Plus will
accommodate eyepieces up to 60mm in diameter. This is important for two reasons:
(1) Larger eyepieces offer brighter images. This is crucial for ultra-telephoto
video, because as focal length increases, light reaching the CCD decreases. (2)
Larger eyepieces decrease the tendency for vignetting (darkening of the edges of
the image) when used with digital cameras and camcorders.”

The 2Plus LE-Adapter will
function exactly like our original. Cameras compatibility, cameras
settings, installation procedures are exactly the same. The only
difference in the two adapters other than size is the 2Plus adapter has
fixed 37mm filter threads which are the most common size thread to mount
to a camera.

2Plus LE-Adapter Showing Fixed 37mm Filter Threads
If your camera has filter
threads on its lens housing less than 37mm you will need to purchase an
inexpensive step-up ring. For example, the Nikon 990/995 has filter
threads of 28mm and thus would require a 28mm to 37mm step-up ring.
If your camera has filter
threads on its lens housing greater than 37mm you will need to purchase
an appropriate step-down ring.
You can purchase the most
common step-up and step-down rings on our
Product Page.
The cost of the 2Plus
LE-Adapter is only $165.95 and carries a full
